Travel Buddy Wanted | No Companion for Your Trip?

Traveling, whether into nature or on a city trip, first means embracing something new and leaving your own home, routine, and everyday life behind. You can switch off and come up with new thoughts, and impressions, new flavors, landscapes, people, and cultures open up to you. To share this experience the next time, a travel buddy is wanted, because the greatest excitement comes from shared discoveries.

Travel Buddy Wanted - Happiness Is Only Real When Shared
In the film adaptation of the book Into the Wild, Oliver McCandless sets off on a journey to Alaska, away from the hustle of society and the burden of family, away, alone into the wilderness. The highlights of his journey are often the encounters with other people. Even though he was not looking for a travel buddy, he keeps finding people who accompany him for a while. And so the conclusion of his life, when he finally arrives alone in the Alaskan wilderness, is that happiness is only real when shared.
Travel Buddy Wanted - A Partner for the Trip Makes the Vacation Better
Traveling alone can be lonely when you stand in front of stunning landscapes or step into culinary new territory. A travel buddy is wanted when you want to lighten the load of organizing the trip. Double rooms often cost only a bit more, and so are a clear price advantage compared with single rooms. When renting a car too, a travel partner can pay off in more ways than financially. On longer drives it is nice to be both the driver and the navigator yourself, or simply to enjoy the view. In restaurants you do not sit alone at the table, and at the bar you strike up a conversation more quickly when you are not alone.
As a team, it is easier to meet people, and you can also have more fun in sporty situations. A round of tennis, golf, or a tour on mountain bikes is often not only more affordable but also more fun as a duo. When a travel buddy is wanted, the companion is of course not just a factor that improves the trip in purely practical terms. After a successful trip, a travel buddy can also become a hometown buddy, because outings at home are better tackled as a team than alone.
So behind the decision to look for a travel buddy there may be the wish for a new lifelong friendship. That wish might take shape once you have had a great trip in good company. Or at least until the next trip.
